Professional Development and Learning
I work with individuals, schools, and schools groups to deliver professional development focused on curriculum, evidence-informed pedagogy, subject leadership and senior leadership. I can offer history-specific support and training and leadership coaching and training for middle and senior leaders. Drawing on my extensive experience and an up-to-date knowledge of education research, I deliver high-quality professional development and learning that can support your needs. Starting as a senior leader
This practical short course will help prepare new and aspiring senior leaders for the demands of whole-school leadership. Participants will explore the professional knowledge they need and consider how to formulate a plan for the first term in post, alongside designing a long-term strategy for their new role.
Meaningful and manageable assessment
This workshop will develop participants' knowledge and understanding of the key principles behind effective assessment, examine the formative and summative uses of assessment and explore practical approaches for the classroom. The courses draws on assessment theory, cognitive science, and subject-specific examples.
Senior curriculum leadership
This series of workshops for senior leaders explores the role and importance of senior curricular leadership. Participants will be introduced to key curriculum theory, explore the principles of curriculum design and consider how middle and senior leaders can work together to develop the school curriculum.
Subject curriculum leadership
This series of sessions is aimed at subject curriculum leaders who want to build their knowledge and skills in leading rigorous curriculum development, developing their teaching team, monitoring and evaluating the quality of education in their subject and communicating progress to senior leaders.
What is 'great teaching'
This workshop series for teachers and leaders focuses on evidence-informed pedagogy in theory and in practice. We will examine the cognitive science of learning, explore practical strategies for improving the use of explanation and modelling, student practice, questioning, assessment...and more.
Coaching and mentoring
As an experienced mentor and coach, I work with teachers and education leaders to provide professional development and career progression support. For middle and senior leaders I provide tailored support through one-to-one coaching, helping them to recognise and build on their strengths, and identify areas of growth and development.
