Cantabrigia Education
Cantabrigia Education is run by Geraint Brown, an experienced and inspirational history teacher, senior leader and education consultant. Geraint provides training and consultancy in a rich variety contexts, in UK and international schools.
Geraint works with other experienced education professionals, who all draw on extensive experience of teaching and leading at department, school and trust-wide levels. Together, we write, collaborate, advise and present. We are passionate about using research evidence and published literature to inform what we do. We also listen and observe carefully to help create the right support for you.
Geraint Brown - about me
I have 30 years’ experience in primary and secondary schools as a history teacher, Advanced Skills Teacher, subject leader and senior leader. I have twice been a headteacher, and a Director of Teaching for a large multi-academy trust, with responsibility for trust-wide professional development across several secondary schools. I now work as a freelance education consultant, delivering training, consultancy and coaching for teachers and senior leaders across the world.
I am a fellow of the Historical Association; I have served on the HA secondary committee, written several articles for Teaching History and regularly delivered workshops at national and international conferences, helping to shape the national discourse on history teaching.
As an education consultant, I have supported schools and multi-academy trusts on a variety of aspects of school improvement at subject and senior leader level. I have extensive experience of training, mentoring and coaching teachers, subject leaders and experienced senior leaders.
Since completing my MEd at the University of Cambridge, I have gained a wide-ranging experience of international education. I currently work as an accredited trainer for Cambridge University’s International Education leadership programmes, as a compliance inspector for Cambridge exam centres and have written training materials for overseas clients.
I am proud of the reputation I have for high-quality classroom practice, borne out in excellent results. I still take time to practice what I preach, teaching in schools I support. I also offer tuition for GCSE and A-Level history students.
I am also passionate about learning outside the classroom. As a qualified Mountain Leader and a history tour guide, I have substantial experience of leading adventurous and historical educational trips abroad, from the battlefields of the First World War to Berlin and from Morocco to Central Asia.
